Volunteer Ticket Policy

Although volunteering typically means doing something without “pay”, WordCamp Miami GREATLY appreciates the hard work from all it’s organizers, co-organizers, and volunteers. We literally couldn’t do the event without them.

To that end, we offer discounted and at times free tickets. This depends on time donated – as a general rule, we try not to ask more than an hour of any volunteer over the course of the event.

If you haven’t already, please feel out this volunteer form letting us know what you want to do. We recommend you ALSO purchase a ticket and depending on what you’re volunteering for we will reimburse you (either before or within 5 days after the event). If you are a student, we can apply the student discount when you buy a ticket (after reimbursed some students might end up with not paying anything).

Here is our current policy:

– Official WordCamp Miami organizers and co-organizers (listed here) receive full access to all events at no charge.
– Official speakers recieve full access to all events at no charge.
– Volunteers DURING THE EVENT putting in Ā 1 hour (or less) will receive UP TOĀ a 50% reimbursement of their cost of a purchased weekend and/or workshop tickets.
– Volunteers DURING THE EVENT putting 1-2Ā hours will qualify to receive a 50% to 75% reimbursement of their cost of a purchased weekend and/or workshop tickets.
– Volunteers (not including Room MCs) DURING THE EVENT putting more than an 2 hours will qualify to receive a 50% to 100% reimbursement of their cost of a purchased weekend and/or workshop tickets.
– Volunteers only get ticket discounts for the day(s) they volunteer. If you volunteer for a Friday workshop only, you do not qualify for a discount on a weekend ticket (and vice versa).
– Contact us if there’s a scenario we haven’t covered.
You mustĀ be a pre-registered volunteer or we can’t offer a discount.
– WeĀ have a set limit of discounts we can give out.
– If you use WordPress or make money off it somehow consider giving discounts back to the event, which in turn goes to others getting tickets or goes back to the WordPress Foundation. Remember, WordCamp Miami is a 100% “non profit” event.

Steps:

1. Sign up to volunteer with this form. If you can donate enough time before the event, we would love you as a co-organizer!
2. We’ll reach out to you asking if you’re available, hopefully with the items you checked off.
3. Purchase a ticket no later than this time.
4. Volunteer
5. Volunteer organizers confirm you volunteered, get reimbursed after event ends.

If you are a speaker or a sponsor and would like to volunteer, still fill out the form – but you should get a ticket with your speaker/sponsor package.
