Why Come To WCMIA

WordCamp Miami is one among many WordCamps that happen around the world each year. WordCamp Miami 2017 is the NINTH year in a row for us – we started with a little over 200 attendees and we’ve recently broken 850.

But why should you attend WordCamp Miami? There are lots of reasons. Let’s take the top 5:

It’s Not Just About WordPress: Sure, learning about WordPress (the most popular content management system on the web, not to mention that it powers a little over 25% of the top million websites) is part of the event… there’s a beginner’s workshop and the entire schedule is for those learning WordPress at any level. But even if you don’t WANT to learn WordPress, the event has many speakers talking about general subjects (like freelancing, web security, and design) or talking about subjects that can apply to any language you are coding (like our JavaScript track on Sunday).

It’s affordable: You can’t beat a conference that has over 70 speakers/panelists (from around the world and from locally) for $40 for the weekend. That weekend ticket also includes some nice swag, lunch, snacks, and a t-shirt (assuming you grab a ticket in time). Not to mention the after parties and networking socials. Again, it’s hard to find a tech conference with that price tag and that much value.

Networking And Meeting People: WordCamp Miami, like many other WordCamps, bring in a variety of people. Many of these are looking for work, looking to hire, or just looking to meet with interesting people. With a family friendly atmosphere, many people come from around the country and the globe to attend WCMIA each year. Many of these are people that work for hosting companies or are plugin developers that you probably already know by name.

Great For Developers: PHP and WordPress developers will get value from WCMIA. As we mentioned, we have an entire track on Sunday devoted to JavaScript… which you can use in almost any backend coding environment. Microsoft .NET users to Ruby developers can get value from our JavaScript track.

Great For Users And Bloggers: You don’t have to be a developer, coder, or WordPress professional. You can be using WordPress for the first time, or just trying to figure out how to better your own business or website. You can find out how to use social media or content marketing to make your business better – and talk with people that have made it work for themselves.
