Sunday March 26th Guide

Sunday, March 26th is our second big day at WordCamp Miami featuring our Learn Javascript Deeply Track! Use this guide to get all the information you need for a full day of learning, networking and fun!

Location, Directions & Map

Once you get on campus this map has everything you need. Please take note of where to park. We have reserved free STUDENT parking for Saturday and Sunday in the Parking Lot 9 and Panther Parking garage (PG 3)DO NOT PARK IN ADMIN OR FACULTY & STAFF SPACES.

Directions

From the North or the South find your way to campus using the Turnpike, exiting EAST on S.W. 8th Street (U.S. Highway 41 – Tamiami Trail). Once on 8th Street, go East two traffic lights to SW 112TH Avenue, and turn right.

After entering campus, take your first Right, and then your first Left. Also, there’s a parking garage for additional parking, PG-3 is located on the right if you continue to follow the road.

Parking


We have reserved free STUDENT parking for Saturday and Sunday in the Parking Lot 9 and Panther Parking garage (PG 3)DO NOT PARK IN ADMIN OR FACULTY & STAFF SPACES.

Parking is free HOWEVER YOU MUST REGISTER YOUR VEHICLE. Here’s how:

  1. Go to this link (Chrome Desktop Users: Please try another browser.) before attending the conference on Friday: https://fiu.nupark.com/events/Events/Register/55e8fa37-f45e-461d-8434-260fd7ef0eb0 (Chrome Desktop Users: Please try another browser.)
  2. Fill in the license plate # and information about your vehicle (this information will be kept private and only to be used by FIU Parking Department).
  3. Once you register your vehicle DO NOT HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN FOR ANY OTHER DAYS. One time register will cover you for the entire conference.
  4. If you bring a different vehicle on different days, you’ll need to use the link again and register the different vehicle.

Registration

Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. in the CBC building. The CBC building is located right next to the parking lot. There will be signs directing you straight to the building where you will find the registration table. Please bring a picture ID for registration.

There will be no walk-ins and no tickets sold at the door.

Breakfast

Einstein Bros bagels and coffee will be provided at 8am and during registration in the CBC courtyard.

Tracks

Proceed to the location for your track at 9am:

  • Business Track (CBC 155)
  • Learning JavaScript Deeply (CBC 232)
  • Users Track (RDB 1100) – in the Law Building past registration
  • Kids Workshop (RB 120 for Registration) – SIPA 125 will also be used along with RB 120 during the day

Each of these buildings is clearly labeled in the Venue Map above.

Lunch

We are providing lunch by Pollo Tropical for all our attendees at 12:30. Lunch will be held at the CBC courtyard.

Kid’s will be provided their own lunch in their workshop Saturday and Sunday.

Don’t miss Chill’N Nitrogen ice cream in the afternoon during one of our breaks!

Closing Remarks and Prize Giveaways

At the end of the day, return to CBC 155 for our closing remarks and some super amazing prize giveaways.


Wi-Fi

FIU has provided us access to their WiFi network.As visitors, you must create a temporary visitor account and register your device before you will be allowed to connect onto the internet. Just follow the direction below to gain access:

  1. Locate FIU_WiFi (an unencrypted and unsecured connection to the Internet)
  2. Logging in as a visitor:
    1. Create a Guest ID and password (ID must be your telephone number)
    2. Log on with your Guest credentials. Do not close the browser until you have been redirected.

    Please note that your Guest ID is available for 24 hours. During this time, you may log in to multiple devices with these credentials.

Social Media / Slack Updates

Important updates such as last minute schedule changes, lunch announcements, etc. will be broadcast on Slack and Twitter.
